Work Setting: Metal product fabrication industry, Transportation equipment industry
Type of Equipment: Forging equipment, Heating furnaces, Taper rolls, Furnace hand tongs, Overhead crane, Hoist, Automatic conveyor, Forging press Metal Forming or Shaping Operations, etc.
Specific Skills: Operate gas, electric or oil fired furnace to heat metal to proper temperatures prior to forging, Place metal pieces in furnace, Remove metal pieces from furnace when the temperature of metal indicates proper forging temperature, Load and unload furnace with automatic conveyor, Position heated or cooled metal pieces on die of press or other forging machinery, Operate presses or other forging machines to perform hot or cold forging to shape or form metal, Position and adjust dies on anvil of forging machinery.
Experience: Forging, Flattening, Twisting, Forming, Drawing, Upsetting, Splitting, Cutting, Punching, Piercing, Bending, Inspecting, or Coining in a production environment.
Essential Skills: Reading text & numbers, Document use, Basic math including fractions, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Computer use, Willingness to learn continuously.
